Ok, tig, I am glad you were able to get it done in 5 minutes... but please keep in mind I am a noob.. no where near as skilled or experienced with this program as you are.... and I only understood one thing you said, and that was to right click to reverse the face.... and I actually didnt understand that, but I went through the menu items to find reverse and when I didnt find it I right clicked to see if it was there and it was.
please explain how you fixed the walls to separate the walls from the floor.

RE: More help
Ok, obviously I have no idea what I am doing.....
Some ow from deleting lines on the very exterior and redrawing I was able to get the walls to where they will push pull, but now half of the floor push/pulls with the walls.... I have redrawn every line and cannot get them to become separate areas.
as for reverse face, the blue is the bottom of the model and white is the top? well.... this was sent to me and I just copied the one on the right and started to modify the copy (the one on the left is the one I am modifying) to add the walls and what not... looking at it it is the way the house is being laid out, I cant flip it cause it would cause the floor plan to be reversed...

More help
Ok, I am doing a floorplan layout, and I cannot get the walls to change from white to blue so i can push/pull them. the interior of the floorplan is blue, as is all the rooms and what not... just the walls that are set at 4.5in thick will not change. I am at my wits end (which isnt far to tell the truth) I have erased lines and redrawn them and all trying to get it to where I can make them push/pull... any suggestions?
Can take screenshots or just upload the whole file if need be.

Help making component from jpg
I have searched the google warehouse for electrical symbols I can use in floor plans, and have not found any that are usable. So I have several symbols in JPG format that I would like to create into a library to use in sketchup. I opened components, went to "open or create local collection" went to the directory where the JPGs are located, it saw the sub folders, but when I open a sub folder it does not see the JPGs.
How do I convert the JPGs to a format that Sketchup recognizes and where I can use them in my floor plans?
Thanks very much for the help. -

RE: HELP!! Building cabinets.
After I saved the cabinet file last night, I closed out SU, and today I opened it to make a few attempted modifications, but when i told it to open the file, it tells me that the file is locked by another user and asks if I would like to open it in read only format.... How do I open it back up where I can have full control of it? and why is it doing this? is this because I didnt "log" into google and sign it?

RE: HELP!! Building cabinets.
I will have to try everything in place my next time round, but this time, I already had everything on paper, and I wanted to do this to find and correct any measurement errors i had, which I did find some and was able to correct them... Now all I need to do is go to the store and buy all the materials I need and get to work. I didnt find any hinge or knob tools so I just put the doors in place and made a knob on the door before copying it.
Tell me what you all think of it, and how I could have done it better and or easier.

RE: HELP!! Building cabinets.
Thanks for the replies. After I made my post last night I found the Sketchup For Dummies videos on boobtube. After watching about 2 hours of video I learned the trick of grabbing the board by the corner and mating it with the corner you want it to touch to get perfect alignment. On parts that dont have a corner, I learned to use the measuring tape to make a mark and then match the corner to the mark.
I was able to get my cabinet together. I need to figure out my doors now, but I have it completed.
I am not sure if this is the place, but I would like to upload it here to get opinions of the way I did it. Not of the construction itself, but of the way I used sketchup.
Let me know if I can do that here.
Also, what is "situ"? -
HELP!! Building cabinets.
I have searched and watched many videos on building all types of things in Sketchup. I have learned some things from them. I can make my cut lumber, give it dimension, then save it as a Component. But from there I cannot get anything to work right. I make an outer side 12,24 by .75 and a bottom 12,31 by .75 and the bottom has to be 2 inch from the bottom edge of the side. I try to move the bottom to the side, and it will not snap into place like all the videos I have watched do. It intersects the side and passes through or it wants to align in another position than what I want. I am not sure how to make these pieces "snap" together. There is a video where the guy makes each cut piece of lumber, and moves everythign into place, and it is just so easy for him and I am getting so so so very frustrated.
Most of the videos I watch start with a box covering the entire outside to outside dimensions, and then make parts to go into it. I dont want to do this because I want to get a proper cut list when I am finished.
Any help you guys can give me would be appreciated.
