RE: Components That Place Themselves

Components That Place Themselves
When you select a component form the components window, it will normally hover next to the mouse pointer until you put it down by left clicking once.
However, some recently created components of ours will just 'jump' to a position within the model once selected from the components window. They will also not appear in the top part of the components window where normally a thumbnail is displayed next to additional information (name and description).
As a work-around we can click-hold the component and drag it into position, where it gets dropped onto the model as soon as the mouse button is released.
I'd be grateful if anyone could hint at what the problem might be.

RE: White Turns Grey in Layout
OK, looks like we've worked out where the problem lies. Here's for the benefit of those who may have similar issues:
When a file is created in Sketchup and sent to Layout, all the information about that file, including lighting, gets sent to Layout. If you subsequently make changes to your Sketchup model and update Layout, those changes are applied to the Layout file. All except the light and shadow. Light and shadow only gets updated if you save the changes in the Sketchup model first.
Our solution will be to change the light and shadow settings in the templates used so that the correct settings are available to Layout from the start.
Thanks to all who took an interest!

White Turns Grey in Layout
The title really says it all. A white wall that renders nice and white in Sketchup turns grey in Layout. I've tried tweaking several options and even resorted to filling the object with a white bitmap (as opposed to assigning it an RGB value).
Grateful for any hints to get white rendered as white in Layout.
Thanks for reading.

External access to component thumbnails
Are the thumbnails that are displayed in the components windows somehow accessible? I have quite a large number of components I'd like to make a sort of catalogue/database of in which I'd like to display the thumbnail. Obviously, I'd rather not have to make screenshots or export bitmaps.
Thanks
