I design and make furniture for a living...
So then I guess you do not mind that I added you to the Woodworkers Usergroup (even if maybe you do not work with wood, there are a lot of nice things there).

Hi Terry and welcome!
Well, looking at these images I was thinking "where the hell have you been so far"???
Beautiful work indeed! I once visited HMS Victory and could immediately see how much work must have been put into your model!

Hi everybody,
I registered a few months ago but I didn't introduce myself. I'm interior designer and have my shop in germany. I've been using Corel Draw and Photoshop for my designs for almost 20 years but I was always dreaming about the third dimension. So I was always looking for those expensive programs but that was impossible for me. So 3 years ago I started with second life to make simple 3D scenes but SL wasn't the right thing so I was looking further. This year I installed sketchup 7 and I'm learning everyday. First I bought IDX render but that wasn't the right choice. I've fond Kerkythea and was happy but it was to complicated for me at that time. Then I've found Sketchucation. Sketchucation ist the most usefull teacher for me and I'm very thankful for that. This board inspires me to buy the license of twilight and I'm very happy with it. So my notbook never sleeps and always has something to render. I like this comunity and would like to thank the administrator, moderators and developpers for their help and all the kind members at this board. Keep on going.
Jochen

Hi Jochen and welcome!
(I won1t add anything else here as we have already "met")

Is it really necessary to require new posts be checked by a mod? Sure you keep out spam but now I not only have to wait on people to reply to my topic, but i also have to wait on the admin, who im sure is not online all day everyday.. It would have been nice to have my answer tonight..

As within just half a year I had to report 2,300+ spammers at the "Stop Forum Spam" database from this forum only, I would say yes, this is necessary.
Sorry for the inconvenience but we rather have this than hunting the forums for spammers (with more than 250 posts/day as an average since it was founded - and it was not founded with 46,000+ members...)

Hi Jef,
Welcome to SCF, enjoy snooping around and don't hesitate to post some work in the Gallery forum. That render has a nice style to it!

Your name reminds me about the writer "Paulo" and his book "The Alchemist". Although not as famous as Paulo's books, Maitreyi novel, written by Mircea Eliade, is much deeper than most books. I recommend you.
@Csaba: Can you tell us a good book written by a Hungarian writer?

Hungarian could not tell .. but from Paulo Coelho, who is not my relative but also a Brazilian, is the last book "The Aleph" which is very good.

Hi, my name is Fred and I have been using SkecthUp for about 4 years now. Unfortunately, I only found out about this forum quite recently. It would've been very time-saving..
I think I've reached a point where I can try to use SU professionally. I am planing on creating a portfolio and I have no idea on where to begin.
Any ideas or experiences would be very appreciated.
I hope I can sometime be of some help to some of you.
Thanks, Fred

Welcome, Fred:
I am just one of the members, here. Glad you found this forum.
Take some time to explore. Read some of the threads. Use the Search field to find things by keyword. And, by all means, feel free to ask questions, and offer suggestions.
