A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members

U can edit your profile in your User Control Panel at the top of the page.
Styles can be saved in your styles folder for windows pc( don't know for mac?) which is located in program file/google.... Etc
then they are accessible from styles dialog box. Any styles you creates yourself can be saved too using the styles dialog box by 'add to collection' button.
But it's been awhile since I played with styles
Oh and welcome

Hi Bantymom and glad you could make it through your email issues.
These sound interesting (especially the villa )
Welcome to the forums!
Yes, thank you very much for helping with that.
The villa is very hard, but I'm not in a hurry. I'm enjoying it. The hardest part was finding a large enough picture of the sketch of the site. I have the Getty museum version, of course, but I doubt it was made to be correct. Not that I have the knowledge to make it correct either, but I'm only doing it for fun. I think it must have been beautiful.

Bonjour tout le monde! Sorry for my english, but I'm not sure to find all the informations I need on the french forums. So I came here... I'm Greg, working in an architecture studio, and always need to go further in this amazing software. I'll have some questions soon, no doubt. Thank you by advance for the answers, I'll try to show the (r)evolution in my works online. Have a good day!
-
Hi Greg as well and welcome. To make sure, I have added you to the French usergroup (you can join any public UG's under your User control panel > Usergroups tab).

Thanks Gaieus! I had a look on it. But something very frustrating happens; there 's a bunch aof interresting plugins or attached pictures that I've not the permission to see. Did something fail during my registration? Are the newbies under a quarantine for a while? And I always have to login again. Does it come from my settings? I'm on Mac. Thanks
-
There is no quarantine for newbies of course - I don't know what's happening with your account. Maybe try to clear your browser cookies (see this announcement, too).

Hi
Another newbie i am particularly interested in hull forms on ships although i have just started out on this i get the impression there is an add on that will help with modelling these curves.
Any advice or info would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi all.
I found SketchUp yesterday. I had a homework that was to decorate an apartment. It wasent the funniest thing to do so i started to look after some fun programs. Then i walked over this one. I decided to try it out and i liked it very much . Im a totally nowbie to everything who has with 3D stuff and so. Ive only done an oven with very few details. I count that one as my real first model. But it aint done yet and its just one part in my apartment. I will look on some tutorials and try to get better, much better.
Thats all from me right now.
-
Hi Rambola and welcome!
That oven (even if not the most exciting subject) is a very impressive and pretty "first model" actually!
Congrats!
(You should see what I did first...)

OOPs
sorry-I started a whole new post to say hello. It is a few post down, titled 'Hello'.
Maybe a Mod can move the contents here and delete that thread. -
Never mind, Paul. It's just a sign of your good manners!
Welcome to SCF! -
Just an introduction. I've worked on computers for 42 years, own my own computer business since 1984, took 2 years of drafting some time back (about 30 years, I think). I've played with Sketchup and like it, but thought I'd try doing more. Not exactly an artist, but I love detail... thought that might help me. Guess that's it for now...

Introducing me!
Hey, I'm not a newbie to sketchup, and I've used many of the scripts now, I'd say I'm an amateur veteran.
Anyways, welcome to me!

I'm a new user of SketchUp and have been very impressed with the program and how easy it is to learn and use. I've run into an issue that I'm not able to solve. It may be that the program will not do what I'm wanting to do....... anyway, If anyone can tell me how to accomplish the following I'd be very appreciative.
I have created a rectangle, then pulled it up to create a block. I have constructed an arch for a doorway and I'm able to pull or push that arch all the way to the other end creating a vaulted void in the block. All of that is quite easy and works well. However, now I want to slice that block at an angle, keeping the vaulted void through the block. I'm not sure how to accomplish this.
I'm using the free version of SketchUp and wonder if I just can't do what I want unless I purchase the Pro version.
Thanks for your help,
John -
Hi John (and welcome),
Whatever you intend to do at these steps, it doesn't matter if the free or pro version. Make a slicing plane (best would be to "group" it until you place it and then explode). See the attached skp file "for ideas" as our learned friend, Jean would say (go through the scene tabs). I am not sure how you want to cut that shape but the theory is the same.

Hello,
My name is Morgan I am French I'm 19 and I'm BTS in Visual Communication.
In order to create a multimedia project I need to replicate a bunker into a museum. As the interior of each room and floor. Therefore I discovered sketchup and I must say I am delighted. Here is what I must do:http://en.labaule.com/images_annuaire/14_77_1_labaule.jpg
I'd aps of my work forward.
Hope to read you

Hi Morgan and welcome!
Those shapes are going to be very easy in SketchUp so I believe it is the perfect choice. Post along as you are advancing with the project and a lot of people will chime in with good suggestions.
Cool project by the way - at least better than using those abandoned bunkers as public toilets as I saw near Bordeaux.
-
Welcome Bunker!
Keep us posted on your project.
