[Plugin] Model Director — Movie Creator for SketchUp
      Hi everyone,
I’d like to introduce Model Director, a movie-creation plugin for SketchUp by Sketchingo.
Model Director brings camera paths, shot previews, visual looks, auto texturing, music and video export into one workflow inside SketchUp.

      Create different camera movements

      • Walkthroughs: Draw a route directly on your model or on a drawing sheet, then let the camera follow it.
      • Facade slides: Choose a facade and draw a path for the camera to travel along.
      • Drone shots: Create orbit, spiral and fly-over movements to present your project from above.
Adjust camera height, aim, field of view and travel time to frame each shot.
        Preview while you work
The separate Camera Monitor lets you preview the camera movement while keeping your SketchUp working view available for editing the model and adjusting the route.
        Build the finished movie
Choose visual looks including Claymation, Watercolour, Soft pastel, and Ink and colour. Use auto texturing, add built-in music, arrange your shots and review the complete sequence before exporting.
Export options include MP4 and WebM, with resolutions up to 4K.
Compatibility: SketchUp 2024 and later on Windows.
        More information: sketchingo.com
I’d welcome your feedback—particularly on the camera-path workflow and the types of architectural presentations you would use it for.

Here’s an example created with Model Director for SketchUp, showing a custom drone path in the Miniature style, with Orchestral music and an Uplifting mood.

Watch for the downward camera turn toward the amphitheatre. The orange brush marks illustrate a user-painted highlight—the area the camera is asked to focus on during the shot.

The captions identify the camera mode, path, visual style, and music as the video plays.

I’d welcome your feedback on the camera movement and presentation.

Here’s another example created with Model Director for SketchUp, using Façade Slide mode with the Watercolour visual style and Strings music in a dramatic mood.

The camera glides along the exhibition building, revealing its curved roof, structural supports, and glazed façade. The Watercolour style gives the presentation a softer, illustrative character.

The captions identify the camera mode, visual style, and music as the video plays.

I’d welcome your feedback on this style of architectural presentation.

The same riverside model takes on a different atmosphere after dark. This movie uses Walk mode with Midnight Moonlight, paired with an energetic Drums Only soundtrack.

I particularly like the reflections of the illuminated buildings as the camera moves along the promenade. The orange brush marks show the user-painted highlight that draws the camera’s attention across the river.

Made with Model Director inside SketchUp.

A slow slide along the façade gives you time to read the roofline, structure, and glazing together. For this movie, I used Façade Slide mode with Cinematic Golden and an uplifting Ambient soundtrack.

The warm evening light brings out the curved roof and the relationship between the building and its landscaped setting.

Created inside SketchUp with Model Director.

You might also want to contact @pixelcruncher at Rayscaper about making RayScaper work with your plugin.

Ya, surely. At some point in time we may want to introduce raytracing. If @pixelcruncher has already created plugin for this then we may seek his help.

Here’s another example from Model Director for SketchUp—this time using Walk mode, the Claymation visual style, and Piano music with an uplifting mood.

Later in the video, the camera turns right toward the exhibition building’s façade, holds its attention there, and then returns to the forward view. The orange brush strokes illustrate the user-painted area selected for the camera to focus on.

The captions identify the settings as the movie plays.

How would you use this kind of guided camera attention in your architectural presentations?

For this walk through the plaza, I chose Cinematic Moonlight with Orchestral music and a dramatic mood.

The camera passes beneath the pergola and turns toward the fountain before continuing through the space. The subdued lighting gives the water and surrounding structures more presence.

Made in SketchUp with Model Director. Curious to hear which night treatment you prefer—this one or Midnight Moonlight.
