Rayscaper New Releases
-
I believe it is essential to include a material type or tab that mimics "billboard" elements—specifically for materials that the user does not wish to fully render, but rather wants to configure for properties like alpha, masking, casting shadows, and receiving shadows. Adding this would significantly enhance the value of RayScaper. Currently, the absence of this feature—which is available in software like SketchUp—sometimes forces me to use other applications instead. I strongly recommend this addition; you can see similar implementations in programs such as Thea Render, SimLab Composer, and others.

@Krass Suppose you have dozens of nozzles; imagine how many water droplets will have their light-related properties manipulated.

@pixelcruncher I believe it's essential to include a material or tab that simulates billboard elements and materials for which the user doesn't want to render; they only want to define alpha, mask, cast shadow, and receive shadow. This would enhance the value of Rayscaper. Sometimes, this feature is unavailable here, even though it's available in SketchUp, so I recommend it. You can see this in several programs like TheaRender, SimLab Composer, etc.

@Krass here's the fur example scene to try out: https://scenes.rayscaper.com/rayscaper-fur-example.skp

Thanks a lot!!!! Tonight I missed your post about the V1.0...
So exited to test the fur, tomorrow morning! Champagne! -
A "fake emission" texture type can be used to prevent shadows from being cast onto a surface.
-
It would be great if you could add presets for the sun for different times of the day and night.

what about decal

This is truly excellent—thanks for adding this option so quickly!
I’ve just posted a new message in the Rayscaper section of the French forum Biblio 3D to mark the release of version 1.0.0, including a summary of all the available features:

I’ve created this initial render; please forgive me for not being able to resist the kitschiness of this sofa...
-
However, this first render is slightly blurry; I hadn’t touched any of the settings... Could it be related to the heavy demands that the "Fur" places on my graphics card? I’m not sure—perhaps I accidentally moved a slider somewhere...
-
@krass Very cool render, I forgive you for the kitsch

I changed the denoising; it kicks in a bit earlier, so maybe that's why the render looks blurry? Do you prefer a noisy first render over a blurry one?
Cheers,
Thomas -
-
The pixel filter and the denoiser are two different things. The pixel filter sets how much each sample spreads over the pixels around it, so it decides how sharp the image is, whether or not it's denoised. The denoiser only cleans up the noise, and it's the part I changed, not the pixel filter.
Cheers,

here is a render 1024 Spp in 1080 p.
If other users could take a look—I find it a bit sluggish. -

@Krass I like the render! What do you mean by sluggish? The performance of Rayscaper or something about the render?
-
I mean not sharp enough.
But I offen render in 2 or 4k... may be that's the point? -
Yes, 4K is much better—it’s truly the ideal solution when combined with the denoiser, as even after just 2 minutes, you get a much sharper image that’s close to the final result. It does take longer, of course, but you can also choose to stop the render after 5 minutes, by which point you already have an excellent preview image.

4k render reduced to 1080 p. Suits me
