Trouble Activating Fredo plugins
-
I'm having trouble activating the Fredo plugins with Sketchup Pro 2022 we've installed the plugin files and downloaded the license file.
Both LibFredo6 and Sketchucation ExtensionStore are installed but when we try to activate JoinPushPull we get a message stating: Sorry - An error occured in the communication with Sketchucation.
We've tried running Sketchup as admin as well as repairing the install and attempted to use Sketchup Pro 2023 but have been unsuccessful with activating the plugins.
This Sketchucation account is not the owner of the extension. I'm just trying to assist my client.
Thank you.

Is the SketchUcation Toolset also installed ?
It's needed to set up the licensing stuff...
Restart SketchUp after the installations, so that everything syncs... -
Also check that SketchUcation.com etc is not being blocked by your firewall etc [i.e. whitelist it], as it's needed to initialize the licenses...

That is usually either software/hardware on your network blocking.
Try whitelisting *.sketchucation.com to allow our server to communicate during activation.
Or move to a different network with less strict policy.

I have licensed a number of extensions, notably those from Fredo6, and every time I try to activate an extension it's a huge problem. A number of times I have been told that my perpetual license has expired. Isn't a perpetual license perpetual?? It happened again today while trying to get past a notice telling me my perpetual Fredoscale extension had expired, and it irritates the hell out of me.
First I used the pro 2023 tools menu to get to licensing for Fredeo Collection. I was told that pro 2023 could not communicate with sketchucation.
Next, I signed in to sketchucation. I am now at the sketchucation page with my licenses, but the license files will not open. I have a copy of my invoice shown there, but that will not open either. Judging from the number of posts on this topic license activation problems are a common occurrence. Can't something be done to fix the process? -

The licensing system is not perfect. It is something we are evolving and improving.
The language used around expired licenses is wrong and something we have raised with creators. A user shouldn't be told a license is expired for a perpetual license. But a license can no longer work if an extension updates because of changes to improve licensing.
There are many moving parts when it come to licensing. Different Operating Systems, different Sketchup versions, different devices etc...
Overall, the number of successful licensees vs those that run into issues is not high. Only those with issues will either email or post here. In fact, in the early days of licensing we had way more issues to resolve. So there's a movement in the right direction on our side. Ideally we need less friction.
I do understand your frustration but in most cases the cause is what I am interested in.
Please run the Window > Libfredo Settings > Fredo6 Plugins Information for Sketchucation Support menu command in SketchUp and copy/paste the output into your reply.
It is also worth pointing out we had unplanned server maintenance today which meant some down time when it came to licenses. This should be resolved now.
