Beautiful Amsterdam

@ntxdave really?
I was mainly in Solln, far from downtown, and it was a cozy place. -
@majid nicely done! when you see it in the maps, it's not as pretty though LOL.
-
@gullfo Wow , good job Glen, I changed the composition somehow and it is not yet the best I am wondering how did you found the exact spot!
This is the photo I used, and as you see I have changed the colors, light direction, and somehow the composition....
-
@majid secret spy technology called google maps plus you mentioned where you were staying so finding a garibaldi store was fairly easy...
-
@gullfo , without a clue (GARIBALDI), Google Maps wouldn't help you, you have keen eyes on details.
Also contrary to public belief, I realized German people are very friendly. I went to a bookstore, near the GARIBALDI, talking with the bookseller lady about art books, etc, we became friends! She invited me to their villa near Uffing! His wife Reinhold also was a children's books illustrator. for dinner we met another cartoonist and his wife, We met twice again in Solln, she introduced other friends, and now feel old friends! -
Had the chance to make more...
-
Wish I had the talent to do things like this.
-
I can only agree with Dave. Magic mate and a joy to see.
-
Very talented!
Have you ever visited the Amsterdam archive for inspiration on Amsterdam building details? https://archief.amsterdam/beeldbank/?mode=gallery&view=horizontal&page=1&fq[]=search_s_sk_documenttype:"bouwtekening"&reverse=0&q=&sort=random{1730826613397} asc
Greetings,
Bep -
Thanks, mates and dear Bep for sharing your thoughts and the link to the city archive. Amsterdam is an astounding miniature of sheer beauty and a lovely city full of architectural details to be discovered over a lifetime.
This is great I will benefit and I used to see some amazing drawings from the archive.
The postcards are not meant to be artistic or documentary. They are for a very helpful friend of mine who sells them to the city visitors ( https://www.fineartprints.nl/?srsltid=AfmBOorfvXMCOuFizu2hSoBIPPQRZ4jHzoSUkftRSBaOHGgtffN-DK4P). So I have to make them cheap in less time...Also some repetitive elements such as goblestones, canals, bridges, a bicycle, city lamps and boats must be included and all in all not bigger than A5 paper size, mainly A6!
I have to make many and not two the same... By the way an enjoyable thing to do. -
I already have shared a few watercolor videos on youtube and I hope you find them handy. Here is one of them ( mute the sound plz):

I spent some time finalizing and publishing a new short Skillshare course. This is after grand masters; James Fletcher-Watson and Edward Seago. I have tried to simplify and describe everything in detail:
