Whats the easiest way to model this capital
-
hello
i am trying to reconstruct a capital from an image. So far i am not satisfied with my result and i'm having problem modeling the pointy part of the volutes. Maybe i have to try another way of modeling it. Do you have any sugesstions?
I am talking about the red highlited part:

So far i have done this

FredoScale's Bending tool, Vertex Tools 2 Rotate tool, CurviLoft's Lofting tool, Extrude Edges by Toolset, Flowify would all help you on your journey
Or FollowMe with some careful decision making...

Depends on how close this detail is meant to be seen.
Lots can be achieved with simple geometry and good normal maps.
Download the famous Sponza model to see what I mean.

Here is my shot at it. No plugins just push pull, scale, rotate faces and moving vertices. Built half of one and mirrored it, copy rotate.

Very handsome

I'd love to attend a class on this. Good normal maps and how to find them etc. Basics.
