Ukraine

G'day folks,
I know this is a contentious issue but perhaps the right thing is to talk about it and find a way we human beings can talk without hatred or rudeness.
Military personnel will usually obey orders as we have seen through decades since WW2 but without a personal agenda, wanting to get through whatever situation they are faced with. The average Russian citizen has as much to do with this war as they do with the price of fish and chips in Grimsby.
I hope that this situation comes to an end soon and preferably with a free Ukraine but have concerns at the manner in which the 'west' made a great show of doing not very much when an early movement of real military strength into Ukraine could well have prevented the invasion. Putin believes he can do what he wants and with his friends in the PRC he is getting away with it. Taiwan the next domino? The real victims are the citizens and soldiers on both sides of a conflict that has no real reason to exist which is the usual situation.
Why the EU is so keen to move ever eastwards I do not know, I get freedom of choice but just because something CAN be done does not mean it should. The EU with it's movement to a grand european nation has a lot to answer to when it comes to this act of aggression.
It pains me to see that our species is just as dysfunctional as ever despite the rhetoric that goes the rounds. Peace out.

Just my opinion but this action needs to be called out by all. Well done Mike

Nobody on here care?

I hope between sanctions and dialogue we see this situation resolved. War settles nothing.

I care. Even very. My nation is historically very connected. I am wholeheartedly in favor of Ukraine. It is a pity that Europe has only just seen this. We (the Baltic countries) have been under constant threat since 1991 and have tried to warn everyone. World war is now threatening because everyone has been flirting with putin too long

It is really insane; War in any form is condemned, as we are living in an era that can communicate and negotiate. I have grown up amidst the war and a region that is bounded up with war and conflict. I have seen so many people who have been injured physically or mentally and have tried to be out of any conflict and spread peace. I also have seriously tried to negotiate with extremists and believe that they are those who need to be rectified, moderated, and nullified; big effort, less result though. Now, I am trying to move my family at least...

I hope. Although now it seems pointless

Hatred is not a word I use freely. But I hate the toilet that is Putin as much as I admire the People of Ukraine and the leader of the century that being Volodymyr Zelenskyy and all those fighting alongside that great man. Not to mention others, the people of surrounding Baltic Countries crossing the border to fight with the people of Ukraine....heroes all and much underestimated by Putin. My closest friend is Russian, he is emotionally gutted by the psychopathic tin of poo that is poo tin
-
Poland's response is immense.
Let's hope todays talks near Belarus result in at least a ceasefire.

I just finished a long conversation with my good friend in Moscow. One of his very big fears amongst many others is the world's opinion of Russia or more importantly the people of Russia.
He says " I am so concerned that others will think the people of Russia are bad and agree with the actions of our leader , when most of us are deeply concerned about Putin being a monster, it is not us we are so against his actions" I would love the opinions from others on this.
Further there are a few things of interest to people here. I think Majid in particular may have a perspective on this1, There is a rumour going around (in Russia) that Putin is dying and this is his parting gift. What can be read from this is that this rumour is an indicator that the Russian people think he is mad (Crazy)
2, Russian oligarchs are voicing displeasure at the war publicaly but with well chosen words An indication that some of those powerful influencers are not happy with Putin. Hopefully this will be start of putins demise. -
Well said, brother.

Despite my general attitude, I am pessimistic about all politicians, maybe because of our contemporary history... I think NEWS are not NEW(S), but are deads, they represent decisions that are made a few months or years ago by politicians. In my view, the greatest businessmen are governments/politicians, and the RU/Ukraine conflict is not an exception, it might be because of Ukraine's ores, or its role in energy supply for Europe...
By the way, I think despite my deepest sorrow about this conflict, some experiences in human history are inevitable, take my country's contemporary history for example. During the last half-century, we passed several experiences, from war to academic developments from dogma towards enlightenment and now I estimate that the majority do not obey the governmental slogans and are not loyal nor trust the insane ambitious oligarchy group anymore and maybe there was no other quick track than this painful experience.
Ukraine/Ru experience is another painful experience that is inevitable, not only to awaken Russia and its allies but for all humanity... Any dogma and tyranny, in modern or undeveloped form, anywhere on this planet, is a threat not to civilized countries but to humanity all. Just remind September 11, for example... a small group of arrogant people brought a great nation to its knees and made a hell on the earth to achieve a paradise in heaven! Just imagine how naive is still human that thinks darkness, pain, poverty, injustice, etc. somewhere else is not my business and concern!
I hope It is time for humans to act globally. Fire in neighbor's home will be a threat to mine!
I pray for the Ukrainian people and deeply inside feel empathy and sorrow, and hope poo-tin (as you called him) invasion receives a swift clear response that makes him and some other crazy politicians wake up!. -
If the energy price surges, sacrificing the middle east is inevitable, I guess...
By the way, the future of democracy and the free world is tightly bound to this invasion result. It is so brutal and I know many Russian condemn it. I hope light wins over darkness.
Poo-tin did a strategic fatal wrong estimation and a clear swift response is anticipated, otherwise, he and his allies will turn more impudent. -
Western toleration with putin, during last two decades, has made him impudent more and more. I hope this time world could change the story ending...

Well I expected it but the internet is extremely flaky right now with disconnects and lots of packet loss. Not this end so no idea why.

Thank you, brother... I usually get warnings from my lovely kind wife, not to enter long disputes with dogmatic people, but it seems that the way to a better world goes through rational conversations without any bias or fanaticism, requesting more clarification from politicians, considering humanity as a whole...It is a step-by-step process of awareness...
I share my deep sorrow for the lovely Ukrainian people with you and pray for their victory. Despite the result, it will remain a shame on Putin, but just see how biased we are, it is a shame to voracious politicians in this civilized world. we can not see these evil invasions in a broader scope, as I think being surrounded by Matrix! makes me not see some facts:P.S. (It seems that the images are picked and designed ..., but worth pondering),
Declaration: I LOVE UKRAINE, strong culture, president, and brave people!P.S 2: I DID A RESEARCH AND REALIZED THAT ALL IMAGES ARE DESIGNED, AND SOMEHOW FAKE. but still worth pondering.
-
Clarification:
I SEARCHED AND REALIZED that THOSE IMAGE ARE MADE...NUMBER OF LIKES, ETC is designef...SO are FAKE, BUT STILL WORTH PONDERING AND ACTING AGAINST WAR, POVERTY, DOGMATISM... -
I am aware that nothing is perfect but it seems that there is little stomach to deal with Putin and his Ukrainian invasion. Back when Saddam Hussein was threatening and killing his own people and Kuwaiti citizens we had the collaborative efforts of many nations Islamic and non Islamic states. That this was a wasted opportunity is I believe why nations are unwilling to stand up to this current situation.
What is it about us that we are willing to see people slaughtered?
There are thousands of us who have had our health ruined by Op Granby or Desert Shield/storm but the will to help the victims of this war cannot have completely gone, Shirley. We volunteered outside of reserve periods and did what was right. NOT to show off but to do the right thing and stand up, be counted at the side of the weaker folk among us.
I suppose Putin gambled on us all being so Covid punch drunk that we just do not care any more and not being well/fit enough to go and do something myself has me fuming and angry as hell. Possibly blame the Irish in my blood for that a bit. My grandfather apparently also got angry at the same sort of thing and went of to Spain.
Right now the adult Badgers are delivering cubs, forcing the juveniles from last years litter to give them some peace to do so. They come here and get a little support feeding. Of ALL the wild beasts I have been involved with, the human being is the only one to behave in this manner. These juveniles do not entirely trust me but when the cubs start to explore with 'mum' I know they will come round here and they will be climbing up my shins to see what 'Uncle' has for them and the adults will be happy to let that happen again.
No matter how isolated we feel, when we work together we make a society/world worth being a part of and I so very much hope I live to see it but not sure I can hold my breath that long. Either end. Sorry, you will get that or not.
I hope you ALL stay well out there no matter where you are, Russian, Ukrainian or whatever. Stay well you and yours but please, make a difference where you are and become part of the solution.
Peace brothers, sisters. Out.
