Heinkel Kabine WIP
-
usually i am constructing tramways but cars are much more tricky. In this case I would like to model an funny old german car: the Heinkel Kabine! I would be happy if you take part in that process. I prepared the construction plans and upload it here. I am curious how far we will get.

Have to take a look at the model. These cars are so weird their cool ! A shop here in the U.S.A. Did a full restoration of one several years ago. So darn rare they had to make trips to Europe to find parts. Maybe I could model a hubcap or the license plate Maybe I could model a hubcap or the license plate . .

Cool project! Unfortunately my SU is too old. But what a great subject! I've thought about doing an Izetta one day. (huh, did you know there is an anime named Izetta about a witch? I did not know that until just now)

Cool, never done something like this, I will give it a shot.

first start... Hmm not really happy..

Joke, you challenged yourself . This is a very cute car. Beautiful, intricate shape. I don't think the start of the modeling is right, but maybe after a lot of testing you will succeed . How would you go about it?

This is how I would tackle it. Because the shapes have a complexity of compound curves, divide it into blocks, then add the details after the bulk shapes have been created. And only do it in halves. I separated the top of the roof because it appears it is canvas and does is not exactly curved to the drawing ideal.

 Very rough for example only.

And so forth. (but not with this geometry. LOL) But I hope you get the idea.

I think the idea of seperating the shape into parts is a good start. I have to redo my proxy!
-
but subdivided result of that proxy is not too bad....

-
some modifications... not too bad, I think.

 What a nice funny project!
I believe the proper way is to go for quads as shown by mr. O'Brien
 Great start!

Wow. Rich, your Proxy is perfect. I played a little bit with it...
