How come, when one stretches an object, the size of the texture also stretches? Officially, the width and height of the texture remain the same (Materials/Edit/Texture), yet the texture gets bigger or smaller.

It depends upon how or when you apply the texture to the face. See my new reply below. Maybe Scale isn't the right tool for the resizing operation you're doing, though. Maybe Move or Push/Pull is more appropriate.

...even though I have no difficulties with textures, thanks for this textures-options hint Dave - however I can't get this to work either. The texture scales only if the geometry is grouped. If I then double-click in the geometry to select this face concerned, I get the option you described, but in my case this does nothing - so I always have to use "explode" to make the texture go back to itยดs correct scaling.

Actually it depends upon if you apply the texture before or after making the component/group. It's a bit odd in the way it works.

When you apply a material it is placed relative to the local origin. If you are texturing ungrouped geometry the texture will then be placed relative to the model origin. If you group the geometry first, then open the group for editing, the texture is applied relative to the group's origin. Here's a comparison.

            Material applied to ungrouped geometry.

Scaling of the material depends upon what it's linked to. Model axes or group/component axes.

We have to wait 15 hours. How is it? Is it better over there?

It's unbelievable, one second after midnight the pandemic disappeared, world hunger was vanquished, climate change was reversed and unicorns stopped all rainbow activity. I then checked the forum and finding no questions realised I was dreaming.
