Modern airship
-
This is inspired by a new Syd Mead illustration I saw this week as well as an old design I made 35 years ago
First, the engine pods. I learned a new trick making the blades. It will be pretty obvious to you old masters, but I wasn't sure it would work.
And I actually got the Followme Tool to work right for a change. I don't why I have so much trouble with it.

Another view.
-
Rough out of main hull gas bag.
-
Rough out of cabins and holds.
-
Great result in a difficult topic, have you considered a cabin inside the main fuselage? I think there is a market for this type of aircraft flown at very high altitude as phone and internet communication servers. They could also be used for mapping and lidar purposes. etc et al. A render of this beauty over high cloud and mountains would be about perfect.

Rough out of the bridge.
-
Bridge imported back into main model.
-
Bridge updated and control surfaces added.
-
Top view.
-
Engines roughed into place.
-
Forward lounges and penthouse suites.

Thanks Mike.
Yes, the main cabins and holds do extend into the gas bag. I'll post a see-through showing that. Good suggestion. Thanks.

Thanks!
I used Curviloft. I first created one quarter using the arc tool, then divided that into three sections and then used Curviloft and turned it into a component.

Here is an xray view showing the cabins extending in the main hull and also the lines used to create the hull that are the initial anchor/guidelines for Curviloft.
I will not be making any interior details at this time. The airship is just part of a larger scene I will be making.

Updates.
-
A close up. Look close and you can the SketchUp man for scale.
-
Bridge update. This will be about all the detail I'll add to the bridge at this time.
The box hanging from the ceiling are long range sensors, but not the only ones.
-
A ground view.
-
Lateral thrusters added.
