So I've imported two .stl files because one includes the other and will print as a solid object instead of a base and lid respectively (See attached screenshot). I need to remove the base from the combination model and I was wondering if there was an alternative way to doing it than selecting (or box selecting) individual lines and erasing them that way. I'm using SketchUp Make 2017 (not pro).

I tried the "Intersect with Faces" trick to no avail. I'd like to be able to use the base (left) as a template to delete identical geometry in the total model (right) to leave just the lid and some cleanup.

      Thoughts? Plugins?

      Thanks in advance,
      Octo

        Try Bool Tools 2. It's $20.

        BoolTools 2

Designed with 3D Printing in mind, BooTools 2 outperforms the SketchUp solid tools in nearly every way. Even works with nested solids!

Isn't that a pro only extension?

Similar functionality is available in the pro version's boolean tools. Also Eneroth has a similar extension, but I think it is pro only a well.

Be it as it may, Bool Tools 2 is what I have installed as well, no faulting the recommendation...

I don't know if it is Pro only?

I haven't used SketchUp free in a long time. I don't even know what the difference is anymore?

Dale's BoolTools2 works in newer Pro and Make, and it offers a better Boolean experience for all users for a modest fee...
