After watching the new V-Ray webinar yesterday I have a few questions. I have sent these to the V-Ray team but have not yet heard a response. Just wondering if anyone has the answers?

1 - Using V-ray Swarm, do all other machines on the network require a licence for v-ray and v-ray installed?

2 - In the previous V-ray we were able to replace existing SketchUp materials with vismat materials. Are we still able to replace materials instead of applying new materials to groups?

3 - If you have a single v-ray online licence are you able to do the following example: Use V-ray on my work computer, then at the end of the day, go home and use v-ray on my home computer?

1 - U need a node licens for the slave. If you have one licens for vray you will also have 1 node licens to install swarm on another machine.

2 - As far as I know you can no longer import vismat materials to replace a material in your model. However - the new material library is pretty awsome.

3 - Yes - if you have 1 online license you can use it on any machine, but only one machine at a time - as far as I know.

Does anybody know if there is a tab for
Color Mapping where Gamma can be adjusted and linear workflow checked or unchecked.

If your materials becomes dark, they are set for Gamma 1.0, new Vray 3.0 is set for Gamma 2.2 as default.

It is a big confusion for me because my older scene did not convert and I have too many materials.

I like the new material editor but interface is confusing at least for me. There are no presets for interior/exterior/studio quality only on quality slider which I guess applies for both interior and exterior.

1- Swarm is the new name for distributed rendering - same deal - you need node$$$

2- Its a BIG missing feature that I am sure they are working on bringing back asap

3- yep - that's the beauty of no more dongle -

Thanks for the info! I really hope they fix that issue with the replaceable materials. It's literally the only thing holding me back at the moment.

It sounded like an update was in the works very soon.

the new update has a lot of errors in my observation:

                    1. Material ID channel doesn't work (it is always black)
                    2. Denoiser doesn't work, crashes eventually the program
                    3. Render times are super long.
                    4. Version 2 had better quality settings (and separation for interior/exterior/studio was good).
                    5. Version 2 was more stable, rarely crashed. New version crashes almost everytime.
                    6. Aspect ratio, gamma colors of objects/textures very confusing when using previous scenes.
                    7. V3 drains the CPU power, it is hard to to anything else like photoshop editing or google while rendering is in process. When I rendered with Version 2, photoshop did not lock so it is different.

I would prefer Version 2 build for SketchUp 2017 until version 3 is stable enough with less errors.

Is there no "low thread priority" option in General Switches?
