      Hello

Is there a way to create scenes without having them populate as tabs across the top of the window?

      Thanks!

      Bob

You're usually far more helpful than that, Dave! haha...

That's a shame, the scene handling in SU leaves a lot to be desired. Is a scene manager something that could be controlled / augmented through a ruby plug in? Any idea? I'd almost commission someone to write a script...

          Have a great day, Dave!

Sorry for being so wordy in my previous post. My coffee was still brewing when I wrote that. 😄

What is it you're looking for that you can't get now with the scene tabs and the Scenes window? How about turning them off in the View menu?

As for scenes being managed by an extension, I don't know. I've never really had any reason to wonder before.

            Have a great weekend.

What if you add scenes through the 'Scenes' window (using its **+**sign) while having menu View > Scene Tabs disabled? There won't be any (new) tabs visible till you enable Scene Tabs again.

Haha, yea, don't even try to talk to me before coffee!

I had not noticed the scene tabs toggle in the view menu - I kept thinking it had to be in the scene manager window. Thanks for that input (and WoDan too).

I could use the ability to group related scenes together, outline style. In my models, I have the desire / need to make different presentations for different situations, all from the same model; there may be a particular set of scenes for a discussion with a client, a different set of scenes for a marketing presentation, perhaps yet another set specifically set up for presentation / discussion with a particular trade. I could easily specify a hundred or more scenes in my models, with sets of 10-20, or whatever, relevant to a particular discussion to be had in a particular presentation. But, trying to keep track of and manage that many scenes from the flat structure of scenes in the scene manager window is very unwieldy. I suppose I could make copies of the model file and then do particular sets of scenes for each particular presentation, but what would I do as I continue to develop the model? Throw all the previous work away done with scenes for presentations and start over with each one? It just seems like a natural use of the scene capability.

Like I say, if that's possible from a ruby script programming plug in, I'd probably pay someone to do that. But, I'm no programmer for sure.

                Just my 2¢.

by the way, heres a dropbox link to one of my model files, just to illustrate. You can see that cliff face in there that you did for me. The layer name is GRADE excavation new.

If changing of layer states are what you're after, this can be achieved without the scene / page tabs if you use Layers Panel, it has a Layer States function that you could use to change to various configurations.

Changing of styles, date/time, views, etc. does not work with the above.
