Of course you will have same result with taken Source as
      5 Object A, 2 objects B, 1 Object C ! πŸ’š

So some more speedy and less heavy! πŸ€“

My favorite versatile plugin! 😎 πŸ‘

Sure with the Sdmitch one you can make that in one pass! 😎

For make different pourcentage just create different familly
        of your Source Objects!

        For example
        a line of 50 object A
        A line of 20 Object B
        A line of 10 object C

Like this you will have 50 % of object A
        20 % of object B
        10 % of object C

Objects Target can be a simple cube! πŸ˜„

The right, headache-free way to do it (preferably with shortcuts):

          1. Get definition*
          2. TIG's random select
          3. Apply definition*

I thank you all for the help. I will surely check your suggestions.

I am almost sure that I used to do what I want in the past using some easy-to-use extension, something along the lines of Chris Fullmer's Random Painter.

            best regards.

And does any of you know of a random component/group painter?

Select a lot of instances of the same component and a list of materials and randomly apply those materials to the components.

There's a Random painter that randomizes paint on faces but I was thinking about randomizing the material of component instances.

It's for faces, not components, I believe.

                          Sure !
For randomize all paramaters of a same texture! (Works also for Components & Groups)
But you can select several different textures on the same time! πŸ˜‰
They will have same variation of parameters!
(Different sizes of boxes is just perspective effect ! )
