I need a plugin for random replacement
-
what I want is this: on the facade of a building I want to show some windows open, some closed and some half-closed. for that purpose I created 3 similar components. now I want to distribute them randomly on the facade. but how?
do you know of any plugins that would do that? there used to be one but I cannot find it.
thanks for any help.

You could use Tig's Random Select, and Replace Selection from the component dialog. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=RandomSelect

"Component Replacement" plugin found on my blog may be of some help.

Of course you will have same result with taken Source as
5 Object A, 2 objects B, 1 Object C !
So some more speedy and less heavy!

My favorite versatile plugin!

Sure with the Sdmitch one you can make that in one pass!

For make different pourcentage just create different familly
of your Source Objects!For example
a line of 50 object A
A line of 20 Object B
A line of 10 object CLike this you will have 50 % of object A
20 % of object B
10 % of object CObjects Target can be a simple cube!

The right, headache-free way to do it (preferably with shortcuts):
- Get definition*
- TIG's random select
- Apply definition*

I thank you all for the help. I will surely check your suggestions.
I am almost sure that I used to do what I want in the past using some easy-to-use extension, something along the lines of Chris Fullmer's Random Painter.
best regards.

And does any of you know of a random component/group painter?
Select a lot of instances of the same component and a list of materials and randomly apply those materials to the components.
There's a Random painter that randomizes paint on faces but I was thinking about randomizing the material of component instances.

Sdmitch has made A color random replacement : ask him the same for textures!

Hi Mitch...

-
Else Tig has made a Texture Randomizer

Really...? Thanks Pilou!

Sure !
For randomize all paramaters of a same texture! (Works also for Components & Groups)
But you can select several different textures on the same time!
They will have same variation of parameters!
(Different sizes of boxes is just perspective effect ! )
