      Hi,

I've just watched the first videos and I wanted to create a simple movement in a window frame component I will use in a lot of projects.

Of course I would try it first in a simple model before working on that one.

However I remembered that this could affect that model for good, forever and raised a question:

Are objects (as in your definition = components+groups) retaining Animator properties if I copy paste them into other models?

Do they carry on sequences/clips with them?

What if I save a component in a folder and to use in a sketchup library? Will it be inserted in othe models with Animator properties?

Could Animator objects be shared by the community with their sequences and clips and be used in multiple Movies?

If so, can we also strip animator properties from objects so we can start them fresh in other models?

Finally are you planning or would it be possible in the future that we could export Animator objects as animated FBX or some other animated format so we can use them everywhere outside sketchup?

Interesting questions JQL. I have had some similar thoughts. Although I am retired, I do about 4 hours paid work a month for a company that builds car washes. At some point in the future I want to sell the company on the idea of showing potential customers their layouts in an animated fashion. Or at the minimum, for their annual convention, have a series of animated car washes.

Given the potential for animating pieces of equipment in multiple layouts and the fact that the movements would always be the same, I kind of had the same type of questions in the back of my mind. Since I have set up all of the equipment in a component library, it would be really cool if there was a way to also store the Animator sequences with the equipment. Then when I placed them in a new layout, all I would have to do would be to make some adjustments to the start time and possibly the duration. Sometimes some of this equipment also shows up more than once in a give layout. Again, not having to animated each piece separately from scratch would be really great.

At this point in time, I think this should be well down the list of possible additions but it might be something worth considering in the long run.

While this plugin is still it its early stages, I think we are all seeing some really great looking potential. IMO, even thought there are a ton of settings and different features, it seems to me that it is easier to work with than other animation tools I have looked at and it does not have a very steep learning curve. Again, just my opinion.

Animation data are stored at model level, because each movement can include several objects, and there are many other parameters.

However, I can think of a mechanism of some sort to transfer pieces of animation from one model to another one.
