2D DWG and DXF Export for Laser cut problem.
-
Hi all...I hope someone can shed some light on this.
I've designed a grill mesh in 2D to have Laser cut.
When I export to a 2D DXF or DWG file format some of the lines are running over at the intersects.
I've meticulously checked my Sketchup drawing and it's correct.
A couple of times it has converted correctly but most of the time it just won't work.
It's frustrating!
Thanks. -
Hard to decipher without an image or file to examine.

Try these. I edited the style to get rid of the endpoints and extensions and reversed faces and also updated the style. They do have an impact on the DWG export. Then I set the camera to Parallel Projection since you want a 2D export.
You shouldn't be using a style with extension turned on for this sort of thing.

That's great Dave, thanks so much.
I found where you turned off the extensions but could you tell me what you meant by the reversed faces and endpoints? -
Endpoints are turned on in the Styles edit tab where you turned off extensions. Reversing the faces is done by selecting the blue faces, right clicking and choosing Reverse Faces from the context menu. That probably doesn't matter in this application but as a matter of good practice if you make the model 3D, you shouldn't have the blue back faces exposed. Only white front faces.

there's also really small edges in that file below 1mm.
I'd be interested to see your export DWG settings. What options have you set?
