Lock axis.
-
I am used to being able to lock the axis of a line but this does not work in sketchup 2016, is this a bug or an intended change/mod?
-
.....And now it works, weird.
-
And, NOW, when I draw from another reference point, locking into the vertical, makes it draw a line at a tangent from the reference point. Bleeping stupid.
-
use the down arrow key to lock inferencing
use up arrow to lock axis
-
Yes, I know but it does not work here. For some weird reason that does nothing but make it draw on a tangent to the reference point I am trying to draw FROM. Never seen that before and I am not able to do anything with this right now. Madder than a box of our finest MP's.

I think I will go back to v 2015, until the first fix/update at least. I cannot move components without them being completely unstable on and axis of movement. Just unusable as is.
-
Since it's not a general problem, why do you think it will be changed with a maintainance release? Can you produce a short screencast to show the problem?
(I think the new/expanded inference system is a great improvement of SU16, you shouldn't miss it because of small starting problems!)

I understand your points and see exactly what you are on about, missing improvements because one person cannot get on with them is as daft as daft gets. Ask David Cameron, he has made a career doing the same thing. I cannot provide a screencast as I do not use video anywhere, it simply is not something I haver an interest in, Best I can come up with is the proximity of other geometry which is causing the problem, simply put, the object I try to move or the line I try to draw simply does NOT stick to the chosen inference. Outside of proximity it behaves like it always does. Sorry but this is as far as I have got with experimentation.

The problem I have with the added reference points is that they are visually confusing, sometimes the proximity of an inference point and the end point I want to draw from is so close they are indistuishable, this leads to wasted time when I have to correct the bloomin' thing.
