SU - better on Mac or PC
-
I've just come up against an issue... I need to work with an SU file that was created on Mac. It has a lot of construction detail and is approx. 60MB. I don't need all the detail & would happily work through the file & simplify the construction but would like to avoid the time/cost of doing this.
I have been advised that Mac is far better suited to processing large files so this amount of detail does not present a problem, while on PC the file frequently hangs or even crashes.
Is this correct and should I therefore consider Mac as an option? Can anyone offer advice please?

I don't believe it's a mac or pc issue. It's the underlying hardware and graphics card

I agree with Box. It's a question of the particular hardware available, not the OS. A lightweight PC or Mac will struggle with a very large model. The only real difference is that with many models of Mac, especially laptops, you can't upgrade anything after purchase.

Ok - that's good news then. I can't see my PC being too lightweight:-
i7 - 2600 CPU 3.40GHz
8GB ram
64bit
1TB storageIncidentally, I ran Thom Thom's clean up on it... which removed 40MB straight away! That makes it light enough for now.

you've forgotten an important spec., the graphics card... use a dedicated one (not an integrated GPU) if you can (rec.: GeForce GT(X)).
