      I did not see this under improvements so I will put it down under Bleepin' thing. How daft is it to restrict the number of facets in an arc???????

        If it's a small arc and you will run into small geometry problems otherwise, it's a nice hint?!

          Trying to create SketchUp edges that are < 1/1000" long will cause issues.
          SketchUp's built-in tolerance considers two points that are within 1/1000" of each other as being coincident, so it won't make an edge between them, or any face associated with the omitted edge either - it's not so unreasonable - considering SketchUp was not originally conceived to be utilized in making nano-bots...
          Most real-world sized objects will model just fine within SketchUp's tolerances.
          But if you are trying to get super-smooth surfaces for 3d-printing etc, then...
          The good news is that tiny geometry can exist, but it can't be created!
          So if you make you hyper-faceted arc inside an edit-session of a copied component-instance [that is itself scaled up, by say 1000], then the tiny geometry issue should not arise, as all geometry will be larger than 1/1000". Any changes you make in the scaled-up version will also appear in the original unscaled version. After the successful creation you can simply exit the edit and delete the scaled-up component-instance - the original version of it will be fine, with it's tiny geometry intact...
          Remember that if you want to edit it later on, you need to do the copy+scale-up+edit+exit+delete_copy trick so that you are not working on any tiny geometry again...

          You input the details of your proposed circle or arc - radius, tolerance[aka 'versine'], and swept-angle - it tells you the minimum number of 'facets' in the specified arc to achieve these permutations... it also gives a modulus %4 optimum because it's often usefully to keep the number of facets in a circle divisible by 4 when moving/rotating them...

              Thanks guys, it was not a problem until recently and I am certain something has changed, this is a problem only with v 2016 rather than prior versions. Something I should have mentioned.

              BTW, these 'arcs' are several feet across.
