[Plugin] TIG-Set_Layer
-
A simple tool which sets the Layer of Selected non-Geometry through a dialog - either by a typed in name [Layer is made if not preexisting] or when selected off a drop-down list of existing names.
Off layers show in by final ' ***', and can be set Off if typed in with with final ' ***'

Hello SIR.
this plugin is not working on Sketchup 2015
Error Loading File TIG-Set_Layer.rb Error; #<NameError; uninitialized constant TIG> C;/Users/SketchupMaster/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/ SketchUp/Plugins/TIG-Set_Layer.rb;40;in `<top (required)>'

It does work fine in SketchUp 2015 for me. How did you install it?
-
I can see why.
If you have no other tools which use my 'TIG' module then it fails.
It's easily fixed.
I'll issue an update shortly... -
Here's v1.1 http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_Set_Layer It fixes the glitch experienced by any users who had no other TIG-module tools loading...
-
There shouldn't be any of such users...
-
Thanks for the plugin but why not also work with faces and edges, and maybe guides, section plans?
And is it possible to add "press esc key to close the dialog window" function (on a Mac)?
-
greatoe. It is not generally advisable practice to put raw geometry on any layer but LayerO. You are welcome to do it, but I guess TIG decided to make this plugin foolproof for those of us who try to avoid it.
-
I think it will be helpful to display which layer the selection is on when opening the dialog.
And maybe after I click on the new layer to move to, the dialog close immediately that I don't have to click the OK button.
-
I totally agree with you and what you said is exactly why I ask for this feature.
When I explode groups or components that are not on Layer0, the result geometries keep staying on the layer of the origin group/component. At this time I want to move those faces and edges from the explode back to Layer0.
-
The native 'inputbox' requires a user's press for Cancel or OK.
Its contents are not read without the OK.It could display the current layer in the title bar e.g. "Current Layer: 'Layer0'".
If there are several layers in the selection, saying "Current Layer: Various" ? -
Here's v1.2 http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=TIG_Set_Layer It now shows the layer of the selection as
Current Layer 'Layer X'
in the dialog's top-bar; but if there are multiple layers in the selection it saysCurrent Layer ***Various***

Hello sir,
Its working thank you.
But when i select group or component plugin only apply group and component.
But can you do Set Layer all objects and faces included into the group or component. Thanks,
-

I see. Get "Default Layer Geometry" plugin. That way without exploding or anything you can send all faces and edges of a selection to Layer0. It leaves the groups and components on the layer where they are.
I think this is a glitch in SU. Why it does this IDK. The content entities are all on Layer0. Seems when the component (on layer "X") is exploded entities should still be on Layer0 not Layer "X".

Thanks for the info, pbacot.

Edges and Faces [aka 'Raw' Geometry] should almost always be on Layer0.
That is why it's excluded from any Selection processed by this Plugin...
If you really must do this [often a recipe for disaster later down the line!] then simply edit the container Group/Component and Edit > Select All...
Then use Entity Info to reset the Layer to one off the drop-down list...
