Sketchup pro 8 image import lag
-
I have tested a new file with only a small box.
file/import/use as a texture....lag........same
I use place holders as well but normally only for large ground images.
I have a pretty solid box (so far) good GPU good CPU...so I'm stumpedI use a small SSD but it has less on it than normal..it has always been fine.
???This just started to happen today.

I just loaded up SU15 Make Pro Trial....which I have been close to pulling the trigger on just a little concerned about the plugins and other bits and pieces of software I use not liking 15. OK I'm a bit suspicious to see my image import problem disappear as soon as I fired up "make".
SU15 works perfect ....not sure whether to laugh or cry...I'm probably about to get a sh*t kicking but I have my fingers crossed.
Being forced to upgrade, although necessary, seems I was dragged ahead with handcuffs and a blindfold....lol...thanks Trimble. I'll get up and dust off.

It might be a plugin or a wrong setting that's troubling you.

I am ok now thanks Elisei. I have 15pro running...my rendering engines are taking the export ok. All my SU8 files are opening intact. I am able to map textures again. My save times are back to normal. I have moved all my plugins and they are working fine.
Just not the most graceful way to get to SU15. -
There is definitely Something going on here. I have exactly the same issue, as do others, which began on the same date.
No changes to my system, no plug-ins, nothing. Just a sudden lag with image import. SU15 is running fine, so it's no biggie, but this is not an isolated issue. Weird..... -

was there a Windows auto update of any kind in that timeframe?
speculating...

It's possible. There have been a few windows 8.1 updates recently.

I have updates often but I rolled them back and it didn't make a difference. I still have the copy running and intact and it still will not import properly. I am convinced it is some ones ruby code. The only code I have added was the Sketchucation plugin front-end. It did seem to take a lot of time to fire up Sketchup. I suspected it was calling out on start-up shaking hands with something somewhere else.
The only other change I made was to install free GE. I have removed it as well but that didn't change anything either.

I know this hardly helps resolve the issue, but I got into the office this morning, and my image import issue has fixed itself. Back to full-speed. Total mystery. Oh well....
