The modeling looks ok, but, for me, the textures detract from the model, they are just not realistic. Can you show it without the textures?

just for sake of discussion.. i like when things aren't photoreal.. or, non-photorealistic is a means of artistic expression where as aiming for photorealistic doesn't have that since the goal is simply to make it look like a photograph.. at some point, photorealism becomes more of a technical skill as opposed to an expressive one.

of course, this isn't a hard-edged rule.. some npr can look gaudy or simply lack of skill.. in this case however, i (personally) think i like the look of the truck better than if it looked exactly like a picture of the truck in real life.

I understand what you're saying, Jeff. My comments were based on the assumption that she was going for a realistic appearance. And they were meant as constructive criticism, not just criticism.
Having said that, even if she was going for an npr appearance, for me the textures used do not clearly indicate that that was her intention. When I look at it, what I see is an attempt at realism that falls short, and I only pointed it out to her in the

I'm just going to drop this now. I need to avoid getting into discussions, it just takes too dang long for me to try to put my thoughts into words, it frustrates me and the results always fall far short of what I really mean to say and often result in misunderstandings that have the potential for hard and/or hurt feelings.

          My apologies to Lz

aww.. no need to apologize. I mean, you weren't being lame or mean or anything like that.

idk, sometimes the web (or anywhere really) can be weird with people who don't really know each other but with me at least, we can definitely be in disagreement without being confrontational/foes.

Good points. I was sort of aiming for photorealism but the textures are really simple, and they don't reflect that

I uploaded a few wireframes. Some parts were built in quads and subdivided, like the wheels

                Toyish look to them.

                Really unique.

Some dents and scrapes would lift it to next level.

I do admire your attention to detail. Not many people (including me) would go to the trouble of modeling the undercarriage. πŸ‘

Hello Lengyel, great modelling, love it.
I think the dirt texture and lack of reflective glass give it the appearance of being a "model". The dirt texture seems to be a little out of perspective, it's too large and uniform. Here's a recent tank I modeled, textures are all done in SU and PS3.
