Yep i did not re-save
-
I have been working on a really complicated clad structure with retractable walls and roofs for a client
I had not backed this file up in a few days......last night auto reboot the whole company
yes yes i know dumbass .......i really want throw this computer down the stairs right now and scream bloody murder.......
the problem this did not auto-backup i believe is because i started the concept in 2014-SU and have since been using 2015 with the original 2014 model
I really am just complaining

And you did not have SketchUp's Preferences set to do an AutoSave regularly or to make SKB backup files on a save.
And you were not manually saving it regularly, e.g. before doing complex changes etc...The latest SKP will be the last one you have saved.
The latest SKB, if it exists, will be the version prior to the last save.Sorry, but you know who is to blame [clue: look in a mirror] !
If you do not save/backup your work you court disaster...

I feel your pain.
I am working on a huge campus model that has ballooned over 300MB so I needed to turn off autosave as that crashes SU when it saves while modeling or running a plugin due to size and length it takes to save a model this size. Remembering to save before running a plugin is important and makes work a very slow process.

I too feel your pain, but still don't think you should be cluttering up real bug reporting with your D'oh posts.

I can appreciate that i had to vent sorry
and yes my preferences is set to auto backup every ten minutes and in any other event i always find a backup after a crash, like stated i had started the file in 2014 perhaps this is why it did not auto backup
I left my office in a daze late last night after a 16 hour day and the interaction of 20+ employees architects, engineers, contractors...... i got exhaustedplease Don't anyone take it personal ...i tried to express my limited humor and even made fun of myself
Thread closed Thanx

That's ok, you are allowed to rant and make fun of yourself, we all need it.
Next time do it in the corner bar and we can all take the piss and offer sympathy.
I'm just doing the same as you and ranting at someone for not posting in the correct forum, so a pointless rant from me, just a sad man trying to keep things in order. -
thinks to myself maybe Box should apply for moderator status, or else try to phrase things in a friendlier way

I'm equally happy never to reply again to any post.
box thinks to himself, DILLIGAF
But I have chocolate. -

when an older version model is opened in a new version, it's converted to the new version upon opening.. so using a 2014 model in 2015 shouldn't have anything to do with the autosave not working.
i'm not sure where to look for autosave files on windows but, are you sure it's gone?
(though, i suppose if the file was saved at some point.. ie- no longer named untitled.skp, the autosave would of saved to the folder where the file was located.. or that's how it works on mac at least.. otherwise, there's an autosave folder in application support for storing untitled autosaves)

Box is a Top SketchUcator.. he just doesn't wear his badge
adding- this actually could be a bug.. not likely but there's still the possibility.
he's saying autosave is set to 10minutes but there's no file?
