      hi guys,

when i reload a placed file and i have changed any material in that file it adds that changed material as a new material and wont apply it to the file. maybe this is due to the use of vray? so i have to delete the placed file, purge and replace it again. very tedious... any ideas?

      cheers,
      mo

seems it has to do with groups having materials applied to them. when i give the default material to the group and paint the faces individually it seems to work.

You should be painting the faces anyway. Especially if you want to have any control over orientation of the material.

BUT if you have edited and painted faces inside an imported component-definition... and then you reload that definition the earlier 'unpainted' version is reimported, and so your changes are lost ???

Please explain it more clearly... or reconsider your workflow ๐Ÿ˜’
