NEED HELP Tracing a roof & dormers from Google Earth
-
Hey guys,
I am just getting started with Sketchup Make and particularly with sketching roof's and dormers for solar panel placement using the Skelion Plugin. I have run into a problem fairly early on I'm trying to figure out.Basically, I'm tracing the dormers and lower level portion of the roof pitch of a house and they are "defaulting" to "bottom of the house". I need the dormers and roof pitches to enclosue to be able to 1) Place my offsets 2) Select areas for Skelion Solar Panels.
Seems like its an axis issue but not sure. I've attached the file here. Do you all know what I'm missing here, or have a you tube instructional video possibly that I could watch that takes me through this particular part of tracing a google earth image. I've been searching You Tube but having no luck finding a solution.
Thanks in advance Sketchucation Community

Hi Danny, is there any reason to model your roof upside down? Right now you model in the negative Z direction (dotted blue). Maybe this will resolve your issues.

I didn't think I was tracing on the negative z direction. I know I was using orbit quiet a bit to move around the house/trace...I wonder if I got upside down there, but it still looked like it was right side up.
I'll play around with the axis' to see if that's the problem.

Easy mistake: easy fix.
Select All
Scale
Start to scale up in Z [blue] direction.
Type -1 +<enter>
It should now get fixed to be correctly oriented ?
Change your view to see it so that Z [solid=blue] is 'up' !
