Crash after renaming material (v.2.0)
-
I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues renaming materials in the v-ray material editor?
Every time I try do rename a material I get an error message. Attached an image with the error. After receiving the error, SketchUp force quits. How can I resolve this issue? I'm using the latest version of Vray (It's an educational license if that makes a difference).
Appreciate any help!

Bump,
I'm getting the same error only after upgrading to 2014SU. Seems to only work in some SU files. As a work around I've been making materials in a new document and saving them then Importing to the working document.
Hope this helps.

This happens to me all the time. I try to change a material name and VRAY and SU crash. I just don't change material names anymore. I work with SUPro and VRAY 2.0 on MAC OSX.
If anyone finds a reason or a solution for this, I would be glad to know what it is.

One thing I can suggest you do periodically is to force sync the materials. GO to Plugins> V-Ray> Debugging> Force Sync for All Materials. This will make sure no one material exists exclusively in either V-Ray or Sketchup. Renaming your materials in Sketchup may also prevent this form occurring. And always avoid odd naming conventions like: (<,>,/,[,] etc...), these can some times cause issues as well.

Bump.
I keep having the same error after upgrading to the newest version of vray and sketchup 2015. Is there any permanent solution to solve this problem?

hmm, really nothing? I see the previous posts are pretty old, hoped there was a solution to that error already...

What if you rename it through SketchUp Material Editor and not VR?
I use SU2014, latest SP, Windows 7 64 and do not seem to have this issue. -
it seems to work but being completely honest the standard material editor on mac is really annoying and finding the actual material on the list becomes time consuming the more you add to the scene... I just wish someone had the solution, it appears to be an old issue and i figured it would be addressed by now...

we just need to fix the bug, that's the solution.
