Housebuilder

The original imperial version installs and works in all versions including v2014.
If you meant that it didn't appear in the Plugins menu after it was installed/loaded - if you read its notes carefully then you'd see that its submenu item is under the 'Draw' menu !...
Alternatively, perhaps activating its Toolbar, so that you can run more easily it from there, would resolve your apparent issues... -
Guys I'm not sure if you aren't understanding. Link me to the file. I've seen all those other threads referenced here and none of them have a working link to the download of the imperial version. You keep telling me how to install the plugin which is the easiest part. The part I need is a zip file of housebuilder for imperial. Both of the threads you keep linking to have 404 errors when you go to click the link to download the plugins. Surely it wouldn't take more than 30 seconds to repost the plugin you already have?
What am I missing?
-
Seriously?
How can we make this any easier for you?

The screen shot I posted today was made a few minutes before I attached it. I didn't get a 404 error when I followed the link. Box followed it today, too. He didn't get a 404 error, either. Something must be wrong on your end.

I have downloaded and installed from the original link in my original post which dave has linked to and downloaded from.
It installs and works perfectly in imperial.
Perhaps you need to change the units of your model. -
Funny. I'm in the US.
I downloaded the file today, in the US, about 5 hours ago. The page worked fine, then. It worked fine again when I went back to it to make the screen shot.
Did you finally download the file I posted?
-
Ruby Library Depot Website has NOT been working for multiple days anywhere in the US. You might be able to visit that page but that french URL is not available to anyone inside of the US. Specifically California comcast.
Specifically until this exact moment you told me to try right now this morning did it work. It still wasn't working 3 hours ago. But right now it's up.
Thank you. I was very familiar with that link, it just wasn't working on any comcast/us computers and multiple people on youtube sketchup channels and forums have been asking why the site was down since June 20th 2014
-
I was able to get the files just now off ruby depot. It still doesn't resolve to my friends in New York on Time Warner. It looks like that website had downtime and several edits to their DNS entries. Potentially DNS wasn't setup correctly? (Network Datacenter Admin here)
I had all the links, and such they just weren't working now they are. Downloading and mirroring them for all
-
So in other words, we've been wasting our time attaching the ZIP file and such. I'll remove it then.
-
Dave R:
Thanks for being patient. It's working now. I think that's why the other person was having trouble. For anyone who needs the imperial version but can't get it from Ruby Depot: LINK http://cl.ly/0L0y1A100344

I don't suppose you ever thought of clearing your cache or trying a different browser.
Are you using XP by any chance. -

cziker, these guys consider a "link" to be a link to their post, not a link to a web page. I finally Googled "Ruby Library" based on the screenshot on the post I was provided a "link" to. I found the web site with the Imperial download and, following Dave R's instruction to rename the .zip to .rbz, etc., it did install and it did finally include the toolbar for windows and doors, etc. So, if you haven't already found it on your own so far, here is the web page you can find it at: http://rhin.crai.archi.fr/rld/

"These guys" are you fing kidding me. We posted direct links to the very page you have now miraculously found. Go back and look with you eyes open. Dave even downloaded the file from that page and attached it to his post so all you had to do was click on it to download it.
What on earth do these guys need to do to help you. -
Following this discussion reminds me of this topic, but I'm not sure this is a link anymore ...

Lmao

I hate to jump in with the same question but after downloading it from the Ruby Library I have it save on my desktop. When I go to see the file it is in a zip folder but the title is HouseBuilder_extension. I read one article where they said rename the zip folder to HouseBuilder_extension.rbz. this is not correct. When I look into this folder I the following:
Folder: HouseBuilder (includes icons)
RB File: HouseBuilder_extension.rb
Text File: HouseBuilder_extension
JPEG: housebuilder_installSeveral said you must rename files but this is wrong others said you must go into SU2014 after downloading and under windows/preferences/Extensions and click the button that said "install extensions" when I did and searched for the folder on the desktop it was empty and I go back in and check an stuff is in there. There is an issue with HouseBuilder and SU2014. If someone has successfully complete this install please post an explanation why this is not working when we are following it exactly like you are telling.
I am on Windows 7. SU 2014.
Thanks

Rename the .zip to .rbz, open SU2014, window/preferences/extensions click install extension button and find the .rbz and it will install it.
Or don't rename the .zip and extract it's entire contents directly as is into your plugin folder which should be found at C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins
-
Sounds like you have already UNzipped the zip file, and you now have a folder containing its files etc.
Perhaps your decompression software is set to UNzip any zip file as it downloads it - an inconvenience in this case !?
Anyway...
Move all of those file out of that folder intact [keep the helper files, icons etc in their current subfolder etc] into the Plugins folder.
Thehousebuilder_INSTALL.JPG
image you listed contains a snapshot of what should be in Plugins...
Box has already given you an indication of the path to the folder.
To find it in the Ruby Console use:
Sketchup.find_support_file('Plugins')

Brian, it appears you misread what was said. Box and TIG have already given you correct info that should fix what you've done. For the next person who comes along, do the following and it will work just fine.
Download HouseBuilder_extension.zip.
Do not open the ZIP file.
Rename it HouseBuilder_extension.rbz.
In SketchUp, go to Preferences>Extensions.
Click on the Install Extension button.
Navigate to where you saved the file.
Select it, click on Open.
Click on Yes and the OK.Housebuilder will now be installed. On the PC click on OK to close Preferences. On the Mac, just close the Preferences window.

Dave R thanks so much for the directions. You should be writing for the Ruby Library site on how to install for su2014. There explanation is for the aliens. The tool finally worked. Your simple, but direct directions worked perfectly. Even though you dumbed them down what good is it if the people reading can't understand them. Great Job and thanks.
