Outliner

I want to be able to change the order of my groups and components inside my outliner. I tried but unsuccessfully... It's not as clear as I hoped. I managed to screw things up inside the box that I'm working on fixing. Where can I go to get a better understanding about this?

The outliner is sorted in alphabetical order: 0-9, A-Z, a-z, components before groups (but if you name the component as well it sorts again).
You can't sort it manually, it always sorts alphabetical. You can change the hierarchy by: 1) making subgroups -> move an object in the outliner to nest in another group
2) changing it's name or first letter. You can see an example the way I use outliner all the time here: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15%26amp;t=52954%26amp;hilit=+outliner#p481656

... and if you do drag/drop items in the Outliner you are effectively moving them of one context into another - as if you had Edited the Container, used Edit>Cut, exited the Edit-session and opened a new container and used Edit>Paste_In_Place.
A sure fired way to muddle yourself up.
BUT it's a good way to manage entities if you structure your model sensibly, using Groups/Components to separate geometry and Layers to control their visibility...

Thank you
