Best free render?
-
The best free engine is Kerkythea because it is truly open source and has no limitations. I would recommend playing with Maxwell if you don't need to render high resolution images. Having your engine stay withing SketchUp is very useful and is a time saver.

Have to correct the "open source" part. kerkythea is free, but no open source. But there are some open source renderers (or actually GPL), if really needed; Cycles (Blender), Lux render and Mitsuba are maybe best know. Kerkythea been proven to work, so it still maybe a fine option.

What about indigo?

Or does something else get the best results?

Blender Cycles...
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:2.6/Source/Render/Cycles/Standalone
And soon it will be standalone so you will be able to render to Cycles from SketchUp if someone writes a plugin

I'd go for Kerky as well. Free, there's tutorials available (some even explicitly aimed at SU users), and they have ready-made materials to dissect as well.

I also prefer Kerkythea

For me Kerkethea is Best..... because it so easy and provide better results.
But
I need some experts support for the exterior rendering while i do stone jali and stone art wall, as i belongs to jodhpur where every next home made with stone art .. but kerkethea didn't provide me the depth of that art
