Topic Voting Anyone?
-
hmmm. Now I can vote positive on my own post. I'm wondering what people think on being able to change the vote later. Looks like it's not possible to change currently. I think it would be "fun" to be able to change on a whim... you know, for the indecisive or "sensible" types...

Hey, I can negative vote on my post, but not upvote....
edit: guess its still a work in progress - "alpha" as Rich says - I can now vote both directions on my own post. Time to spread some cheer to my self

PS And can be very dangerous for sensible persons!
Please avoid suicides! In seriousness, I tend to agree. I would like to see some way to track back the + and - to actual users. I'm not particularly comfortable with an anonymous feedback system.

At the moment every loged in member can vote once on every post (including his/her own posts). My opinion is that changing the votes later is not a good idea as it might lead to the manipulation of votes. The vote shows the opinion of the voter at the moment of voting. Of course this opinion might change later and it can be expressed in an other post.

May I ask a Safari user who had problems with voting to erase the Safari cache and try to vote again and tell me the result?
I made some changes in the code but can't test as we do not have a Mac. -
Weirdly. Both the icons and voting works on iPhone.

I made some changes in the code but can't test as we do not have a Mac.Emptied caches and it still doesn't work. I'll update Safari and try again.

Good addition. I guess some more design work is needed to make it part of the whole. Smaller numbers, simpler and one color up and down signs, more like the rest of sketchUcation symbols...

Thank you Olishea for letting me know. As I mentioned you in PM if you have the time and wish to participate in a step-by step debugging, we can do that. Maybe Skype or gmail voice chat could make it more effective. Let's discuss it in PM if you wish.

One thing to note, to make the votes meaningful you really need to see both numbers.
Showing only the combined result gives you a skewed perspective.A post might be very controversial and 500 people vote it up while 499 people vote it down, leaving a lame 1 vote up which suggests indifference rather than a divided community.

Still looking for Mac users to test? I just voted one up and another down.

Thank you Dave,
Yes, we are looking mainly for Mac users who are unable to vote and have the time to make some online testing with us.
Thank you for letting me know your results.

I just voted with my MAC Mini [Mavericks] and it seems OK to me

What about that old saying from Chicago? You know, "Vote early and vote often."

like on StackOverflow
Precisely....
Showing who's voted requires a changes to the TOS ond PP of the site which would mean asking everyone to agree to these changes using some type of pop-up blah blah blah...
IMO...and this is with the Admin hat off...
I don't want to know who rates + or - on my posts. The system is about getting the best answer earmarked through voting and delivering that answer in a manner like this...
Then this could be toggled on and off...
These are just ideas that will help current and new members know where great answers are and who good members are.
