Newbie!!

Hey guys, I am new here and have very little experience with Sketchup. My knowledge is limited to what I learned from watching Robert Lang's videos if you're familiar with him. I'm a professional woodworker that builds mostly cabinetry but my passion is to build furniture. I use a KCD software for my cabinetry work which works well but would love to replace it with something less expensive like Sketchup if it would be just as efficient and I could also design furniture as well. Something KCD does not excel at. So, I'm hoping I can learn to become more efficient in the shop by using SU. Of course that's only if I can ever figure it all out. Lol! I came across ShetchUcation searching for info on cutlist plugin for Sketchup but before I can even do that I need to figure out why I keep getting "403 Forbidden" page when I try to download the Plugin store. I know this is probably something really simple for most but I'm not all that computer savvy. Sorry, hope I can get some guidance and feedback from this forum as I'll be reading a lot trying to learn all I can.
Cheers, Calvin

someone here can surely help you with the 403 Forbidden error.
Welcome to the forums!
Be sure to get on the Woodworking forum. I think you have probably gathered that SU is more all around modelling than geared for cabinetry but there are many cabinet plugins including some more elaborate $$ versions not in the store here. -
Hi Calvin,
Welcome to Sketchucation.
I'm not sure about your 403 error but maybe we should ask that question down in the Ideas Box & Board Issues forum.
As for SketchUp and designing furniture, it works nicely for that. That's what I do with SketchUp primarily and have done for nearly ten years. As Peter says, the program is designed as more of a general 3D modeling tool but that is a good thing.
For generating cutlists, I currently use CutList 4 . I described using it here.
If you want to use SketchUp for doing kitchen cabinets and the like you should look into CabinetSense. It's not free but it seems to be very powerful and probably worth the money if your time is worth anything.
BTW, I'm not affiliated with either of the plugins.

Do you have any odd js restrictions/settings in your browser's Internet Options?
Are you getting properly logged in at the SCF Plugin Store ?
Without that access is restricted?
Perhaps as a newbie you tried before you were fully accredited...
Perhaps Gaieus or Gábor can shed some light on this aspect ? -
Thanks for the info Dave! I'll check that stuff out once I figure out what is going on with this Error I'm getting.

Yes I noticed too, that page is for the old version and needs updating... BUT the newest version is accessible from the PluginStore [first link in the Resources menu]...
