Question about Faces in SketchUp?
-
1.The face on component 1 is touching or interfacing with the face on
component 2.2.The face on component 2 covers the whole face of component 1 and it will not
be visable on the finished model.3.I usually delete the touching face on component 1 where it interfaces with
component 2.4.I delete faces where this condition happens in order to reduce the number
of face as it relates to rendering.5.Is this a good procedure? I also delete the faces to stop the "flashing"
caused by two faces interfaceing with each other. Thanks for your help, Bob

Will be normal with a "single" object, but very curious with different Components because a component without a face will be "no solid" so maybe some problem !
Delete double faces of a component is normal (there is plugins for that !

If you are applying flat components onto faces then you will get 'z-fighting'.
Give the component correctly oriented axes and gluing/cutting behavior - it them 'removes' the face behind it, even as you move the instance...
If you are applying it onto a face that is inside another component or group it cannot cut, so 'z-fighting' reappears.
An Image never 'z-fights' even when applied onto another face directly.
Depending on your object could a rectangular image be used inside the component definition ?
