I created a custom title block from a blank Arch D sheet. It looks good and I saved it in a folder in Layout 2013 called "My Custom Title Blocks". I consider this a template that I can use for each new project. I am unsure how to "Save" or "Save As" a new project file. Do I just give it a new name? If hit "Save" it will just update my custom template correct?

No, hitting Save for your new project will save it as a new file. It won't update the template. When you choose Save, the save location is different than the template's location and you'll be asked to provide a name for your new project. For both those reasons, the template will not get updated or rewritten. Actually, even if you used the same name as your template, since the save location will be different, the template won't get changed.

Why not use File > 'Save as Template' ?
Then that can be used for a new project as needed ?

Ah. Good point TIG. I made a probably erroneous assumption that the template had already been saved as a template using File>Save as template... This is certainly important because it then makes that template selectable from the Templates list when you start a new project and when you use File>Send to Layout in SketchUp.
