Just recently i was trying to rotate an object that I had imported from the 3D warehouse and my rotating tool started to multiply and overlap over on another to the point where I couldn't see what I was doing. Not only that but the screen would go black (not my laptop screen but the sketch up screen. Is there a way to fix this?

Some stuff from 3D warehouse is dangerous! I suggest exploding groups/components and using the purge plugin to remove anything unnecessary. In fact run purge first because you may not need to explode anything. If that doesn't work explode and purge again.

Post link to model and maybe we can help you more.

As well as Oli's advice, it could be a graphic card issue.
Have you recently updated drivers or windows update.
Both can cause or fix the problem.
Do you have a Graphics Tablet? such as the wacom, if so update the drivers for that also. And some tablets have a reset preferences option, this can fix it too.

Post your images here so they can be seen.

What you describe is a classic graphics card issue. As you've already been told, update your graphics drivers.

I didn't see anyone getting sassy.

That is clearly a problem with your graphics. What GPU do you have? What kind of computer is it? Did you try changing the OpenGL settings under Preferences?

If you recently updated the GC drivers [perhaps even 'automatically'] and then started to see these issues - then try 'rolling back' to an earlier driver version that worked...

Most often having the latest drivers is the best advice, BUT I personally got completely screwed yesterday by this... after Windows auto-installed an update including new NVIDIA stuff, everything seemed fine... until suddenly after many minutes of trouble-free use the monitor just turned itself off - no-signal - no way of fixing it except a forced shutdown/restart !

After this intermittent problem repeated a few times during the day I noticed the driver update, and I decided to revert to a 'system restore point' - which is a pain to do too - to just before the suspect graphics driver update was auto-installed.
SO after some time admin'ing the OS, everything is now fine again... so whatever happened it's sorted...
I won't be installing that particular GC driver update again !

It seems it's an integrated chipset which is not the best for SketchUp (you'd need a dedicated video card). Your only choice is to turn hardware acceleration completely off under Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings.

SU will run slower this way (although your card would not support acceleration anyway) but "safer" from these display issues. Someone has already suggested checking this out above.

                      Gai...
