I'm having a problem with adding a folder of textures to the materials directory in SketchUp 8. I have no problem in adding and referencing a single new texture in the materials menu, but in the past, I have grouped various related new textures into folders and using the materials menu, included them successfully with the existing folders in the Sketchup materials directory. I am them able to access them in the materials drop down menu of texture folders. It's been some time ago, and I can't recall the procedure to accomplish this. Can anyone help ?

What operating system are you using? Are you trying to place a folder in the Materials folder under C:\Program Files...\SketchUp 8? Are you using Windows 7? Assuming you are, you need to set the permissions for the Materials folder so you have full administrative rights.

I have no problems simply moving a folder into "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8". The problem is accessing the textures in the folder via the materials menu in Sketchup 8.

Ok, forget my post...I think that my problem is that I used the jpeg textures rather than skm formatted ones.

Your own subfolder of SKM material files [NOT image files ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ] needs to go into the main Sketchup .../Materials folder.
If you don't have FULL security rights to that folder then it might look like your subfolder has been put in there... but the dreaded 'Compatibility Files...' link button in the main Explorer Window's header-bar is a clue that something is adrift... Windows has put stuff into a Virtual store to protect you from yourself... ๐Ÿ˜’
You need to ensure that there is FULL security rights [for all] to several folders in the Sketchup folder - Materials, AND Plugins, Styles and Components - because each of those will, at some pint need files adding into them... These access-rights should also trickle down to all of these folders' contents, including any subfolders too... ๐Ÿ˜•
