    Hey guys,

I have a problem when i render my model. I have a fense with glass, and behind it a gravel ground. Gravel have bump and displacement maps. And glass panels in fense are actually two parallel planes. The problem is,vray (ver 1.49.01), wont render gravel behind glass. It renders shadows, but not gravel itself. Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Guys, found out what the problem was.. It was the gravel material, and im not 100% sure, but i think i applied it on the back side of plane(gray side).. anyways,if anyone can help me get this glass a bit more clear, that would be great! 😄

If you have a refraction layer in a glass material, you have to make sure all of your faces are forward facing, even the ones you are seeing through the glass, or you get this issue.

the material and the face behind the glass is forward facing, that was the problem with bumps with gravel material.
But i can get rid of the dark shadow my glass is produceing. Should I make my glass with one plane,or two parallel?

Two planes shouldn't cause a dark shadow effect, what is your material setup? I usually model glass panes at their actual thickness (8/10/12mm), and copy the sheet with a cavity for double glazed windows, so it's physically correct. For planar glass I wouldn't bother with the refraction layer, I find it produces unwanted distortions. Here's a test I made with a 10mm thick sheet. Glass colour is black, opacity 5, reflection layer added with default settings.glass_test_011.jpg

if you glass material is less than 100% transparent, that may cause it to look foggy. Can you share your material settings (you can save out a "vismat" file from your material editor.)

Edit: 😳 you're right panixia, I meant vismat!
