Render black splotch problem
-
Hi, I was trying to render a pure white surface as you can see from the attached image. However, I am getting this annoying black splotch all over the white areas and the strangest thing is that it only occurs on one side of the model. As for the other end of the image the white surface isn't that white at all, you could still see traces of greyish splotch near the connecting edge.
Anyone knows what is wrong with the setting? i have tried changing the shadow angles but to no avail. could it be something to do with the irradiance setting?
Please advise, Thanks!

What's your lighting setup, just VRay sun or are you using an HDRI?

One question - do you have a very large site that this is on? I'm wondering if the scale is thrown off for the calculations and you're not getting enough lighting samples on the shadow sides.
Another thing to check would be to increase your GI multiplier to increase the amount of lighting in your scene. If you are having to adjust the levels of your completed rendering a lot, it will reveal splotchiness where there is not enough light.

It was just usual Vray sun, however i have set my primary engine as IR map and secondary as Light cache.
I have added a location for the shadow - somewhere near the Arabian sea. -

hm..
the file size is around 30mb, it's not a huge site but the model has too much complexity within itself and quite a lot of layers. Yea, it might have to do with the lighting samples. So theoretically splotchiness are often cause by the GI settings? -
Hi guys, I tried exploding the walls (since I have grouped them into components earlier) and it works out well!
Although there are still faint splotches on the 2nd & 3rd blocks from the left.I am guessing that it might have been a SU bug?
I have another question:
how do i make the yellow roof (supposedly perforated metal roof) more porous? cause it seems to me now that they are still somewhat opaque from far. (not much light passing through)
I have included the bump map for rendering but whenever I have changed the porosity sizes (on SU paint material setting) I would have to alter the corresponding bump map on photoshop before loading it on vray material editor. Is there a faster way of doing this? Many thanks! -)
