3D Mero Structures
-
Hi SU users!
I've been using SU for so long time, and this time I need 3D Mero Structure to fit
in some part of my project. Is there any shortcut for modelling this thing?http://www.steelconstruct.com/references/fiches/germany/mero/mero.jpg

Probably better to post pics here so we don't have to click and wait some more...
Have you tried anything at all, I must wonder, since you did not say?
That's not difficult, but I'm out of time...

I would look up TaffGoch's excellent work on geodesic domes and use these structures as a basis for creating components that fit together using the nodes in one of your pictures. Take care though, chord lengths will differ slightly depending on the structures. Good luck!

Hi folks.
These can be probably created quickly using edges and then a pluggin like lines2tubes. See here:

BTW, these 3 guys would not work for long here with the Health and Safety at Work Commission that we have here in the province of Quebec. No safety harness, no hard hat and no safety boots (safety goggles and protective suits also, maybe. This depends on the type of work). I remember the time when one could visit a hydroelectric powerhouse wearing only running shoes, jeans and a teeshirt. OK, the hard hat was mandatory. Today, you need a Nomex suit, a hard hat, safety boots and protective goggles otherwise, you do not enter.
Just ideas.

In Catchup (click the red button at the top) there's an edition where Eric Lay does a tutorial on these type of frames.
