Hi, no doubt a newbie question: I am experimenting with the sandbox from scratch system.
With the smoove tool I modeled the terrain.
Now I went to WINDOW and clicked Smooth edges. I get the impression nothing happens and a dialogue box appears which is greyed out.
My major question is: How do I get rid of the grid lines of the terrain to get a nice smooth shape?

      Thanks in advance,

      Rob

Unlike with the 'smoove' tool, (which you applied in editing context on the mesh), you need to be outside the terrain group again to have 'Soften Edges' work on the group that is selected.
For it to work withing the group (not greyed out) you need to select at least one edge first. If adjacent faces are coplanar, you will still see no results.

p.s. unless you also check 'soften coplanar in the dialog box.

            Thanks for your replies.
Afterwards I found out what was wrong: I had to select the terrain first and then apply smooth edges. I did not see anything about selecting first in the manual, but - anyway - it works now.
            Thanks,

            Rob

I should have mentioned to select first, I know.
