Windows Vista. When I did the last SU8 upgrade, I failed to do it via right click 'run as admin' and as a result ever since I have had to take the extra step of OK'ing every run of SU. Permissions fully enabled for everyone under the sun. Repair doesn't work so I'm guessing a full uninstall - reinstall is my only choice. I've got the plug folder copied out; any way to save toolbar layout? Any other tips?

is it "sketchup wants to use a network connection" or something like that?

we get this on macs too but theres an 'always allow' option. does an option like that appear in your prompt?

I wish. No, it's "An unidentified program wants to access your computer" with options to allow or not but not to 'always allow'. There's also "user account controls prevent unauthorized use" and "Don't run the program unless you know where it's from or have used it before", but nothing useful. Even though I've run it hundreds of times and know where its from and have specifically given everyone the right to run it and even though it is only I as admin who is attempting to run it it won't let me run it without playing the little distraction.

          Thanks.

Yes, I've done the search a few times. Thank you. Nothing suggested works.

When you say "full reinstall" do you mean the O.S? If so go get a copy of Win7! I used to get these problems with Vista and have never had anything similar since I upgraded.

I take it you tried reinstalling SU as an Admin? Just not sure from the way I read your post.

It's been a while but if you rt-clk the SU icon under properties you may find a setting for "run as administrator".

'Run as admin' does not work for me. I meant re-install SU, not Vista. Apparently Vista is notorious for this issue.

                    Thanks.

Maybe if TIG noticed this discussion... His profile says Vista. He is known to be fairly well versed in computer stuff.

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

Not as far as I can tell, but thank you.
