      Hi guys,

I'm trying to model boats in Google SketchUp and have been stuck for a long time now. Please see this video:

At 1:20, the uploader is able to push off the top off the hull from the rear part of the boat, creating a nice round surface. I simply cannot do this. It refuses to move. I cannot push the rear part off it. I also tried to create an exact copy of that same curved line line, both by copying it, and by following the measurements, in order to erase the old lines and create a new surface, however it won't cover/create a surface. I'm stuck!

I use the free-version of SketchUp. This shouldn't matter though I believe?

Any help is appreciated! ...And yes, I've tried to google it! Thanks guys!

Without having your SKP file to look at and little in the way of information about your model, I'm taking a stab. If Push/Pull won't operate, it's probably because the surface you are trying to Push isn't flat. Turn on Hidden Geometry and look to see if the surface is made up of more than one face. If it is, Push/Pull won't do anything for you. You need a single face. You should be getting a message related to this when you try to use Push/Pull.

The way I see it from (1:20 on / although way too fast) is that the curve (arc) is created on a flat rear side face of the boat. The upper part above the curve is then pushed to the other side of the boat.
Two things that are important here:

          1. The arc is drawn on a flat surface (a face), so the remaining upper part is also a single face to push (as Dave mentioned).
          2. the other boat side needs to be parallel to the visible rear boat side face to instantly "swallow" the part pushed accross. If not, then push beyond the other side and use: intersect selected to be able to delete unwanted geometry.

The technic is similar to what is shown at the end, creating the cockpit on the curved deck. A flat face with arc boundaries is pushed sideways.
