Jeff thank you for answering my question!
Let's hope it will be fixed in the next release.

divide still works.. it's just that the popup doesn't.
for instance, say I have a 48" line then I right click -> divide.
I used to be able to slide the mouse around and see a popup which would say something like '6 segments @8" ...5segments @ ~9 5/8"... 4segments @ 12"... etc..
you're saying that still works for you?

I get the popup window on mine #segments, certain length.
But a new issue as surfaced with DC components, changeable values are blacked out http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=45382 makes impossible to change cabinet size. -
Strange things happened here.
Yesterday when i updated my iMac. Lion and SU 8. On this computer the popup surprisingly works. Actually I forgot to check if it worked before I updated, since I normally only work with graphics on my macbook.
I tried a reinstall of SU on my macbook without any result...

Yes i can confirm the little box with the number of divisions and lengths still appears. I am using a 5870 graphics card perhaps this is an open gl driver issue.

weird.. i found the culprit but i can't really figure out how this pref changed (or maybe it was just set this way upon my original su8 install ?? that's about the only thing i can think ofโฆ otherwise, i'm pretty sure the only way to change this would be to manually edit the .plist )
but all is working fine now.. just took me quite a few months to figure out

Jeff (or anyone), what is the Windows equivalent of what your pic shows; is that a preferences screen? Sorry if it is; I'll check it.

i think the windows equivalent is the registry.. on mac, all preferences are stored in a .plist file..
and from what i gather, they're much less daunting/scary than visiting the registry(but i could be wrong.. i don't even know what the registry is.. i just hear about it from time to time
)

It's a scary thing MS only invented to keep users at bay.

Today I updated to 8.0.11751 - on my iMac, the popup stopped
We must ask the Sketchup team about this small but but annoying issue.
