Hello... and .stl files...

Hi All,
Am new here but thought I'd say hi and also start to scratch your collective brains.
Am a sculptor by trade and am now moving into digital sculpting... Have fallen in love with SketchUp and going pro latter this week. However I've hit my first major brick wall... how on earth do I save my .SKP files as .STL files so I can send them to be 3d printed?
Have downloaded CADspan and the Guitar list plugin. Can create .DXF files no problem but .STL remains elusive.
Thanks for any pointers etc, and hope to be able to add to the community.
Cheers
Adam

When exporting STL with the Guitar list plugin, type the filename then actually type ".stl" on the end. For some reason that plugin doesn't append the filetype.

Cheers guys, fingers crossed it will work.

hmmm... still no .stl file but instead saved as a certificate trust list.. any pointers? I'm hoping that its me overlooking a simple procedure...

Did you try typing
.stl
on the end? You can also rename the file after exporting it....so "mymodel" becomes "mymodel.stl"
I was confused by the "certificate trust list" thing too, until I figured out I could rename the file.
Hope that helps. If not, I suggest contacting the plugin author.

The STL file extension is presumably used by another app as well as the 3d-modeling file-type...

This sometimes happens where two apps use the same extension
The link explains how to swap it over... -
Thanks again guys, think its worked
It's just a simple chess piece, being printed hopefully tomorrow....
