Rogue file
-
i am constantly going back and forth between sketch up files and repeating the same components/textures etc...
Why am I occasionally getting a rogue file that attaches itself to every other SU file and opens itself whenever any SU file is opened...and then it won't close.... it's like that really annoying friend that won't go away and wants your undivided attention all the time. And it wouldn't even be a problem but it's that really big friend that takes up the whole front seat in your car...
causing some frustration. maybe i will try saving it to a out of the way place where there aren't any other SU files...like telling that friend to run to the store and get me some ice cream... in Canada
thanks

Is your template causing the problem?

Could you explain this a little more clearly...
What is this 'other file' - a SKP file, or something else ??
Does it open with every SKP you open?
What are its contents? etc etc...But if you mean a component that is INSIDE a SKP, then that comes from the template used to make that SKP originally.

the 'other' file is a SKP file, and has been operating independently for weeks, and then all of a sudden, it has started opening itself whenever i open other SKP files (not all of them), so I get a twofer.
And I can't close the piggyback SKP file without forcing.
all of my SKP files were created from a default template, but they do share a lot of the same components (nothing new that i haven't used before).
thanks for the info

Sounds like something is up with your OS or Sketchup ...
Have you tried repairing/reinstalling ?
