hmm.. good question.
i currently do what your asking about (as well as syncing shortcuts, materials, components etc…) with dropbox and symbolic links but it has some quirks (for other syncing situations, it works great for all the sketchup stuff).. i'll try something with google drive a little later and report back.

For Backups: I'll keep Backblaze, thanks. It's just $50/year for unlimited storage and I can login to my account from anywhere in the world to download my files.
And how is Google Drive's document collaboration feature different from Google Docs?

Dropbox only offer 2GB.

Can I just ask people to click the drive link on the google homepage when logged in(at the top of page in the big black bar). I have entered through that since yesterday no problem. Even though the other way says notify me.

What big black bar? Screenshot? I can't find the damn thing.

At the top of page is a black nav bar with links to docs, plus etc.
I've drive up there since yesterday. I just clicked it and downloaded installer. Now I've drive folder on system.

Nope! For me it redirects to http://www.google.no - and there is no Drive link...

While I wait ... does it sync one folder, like Dropbox and SkyDrive - or does it allow arbitrary folder sync?
