Knotty wood texture?
-
Modeling a room and for the doors and skirting I need a knotty wood texture, as in the picture I've attached.
Don't suppose anyone has one I could use? Not sure how to get it seamless looking too as it's over such a big area. And seeing a uniform row of knots on the skirting would be awful!
Thanks
Mike

Find what you want and let's see if we can make it seamless...

Thanks for the links
Hmm I can't find anything with knots that isn't plank! I'll keep looking, must be something there... -

Doh! Where was that? Did I miss it?
Thanks for saving the day!numbthumb - I downloaded that ages ago and forgot all about it haha. Cheers

I didn't direct link as I felt you might enjoy browsing through those site's textures. But that one above is an arroway texture
-
Ah I see. I never look on arroway (til now)
Edit**
I reverse image searched that texture on google images and it came back with this
http://files.arroway-textures.de/catalog/images/maps/previews/preview_wood-035_scotch-pine-knot-2_d.jpg
You've probably already noticed it on arroway, but a nice alternative if you need a higher res one.
Thanks

I found a 'knotty-pine' door image from a builders-merchants...
Did some tweaking/cropping... [could be better, but this IS a quick lash-up]
Imported it as suitably sized Image.
Exploded it.
Made its texture 'projected'.
Painted a 'flush' door with it.
Used some offset guides for the panels etc.
Moved some edges 'in' with Alt/auto-fold to make beading.
Copied panels across and mirrored onto back face...
The geometry is simple because there are no 'rounded' beads etc yet the texture gives the illusion of 'form'.
You could easily butcher the long parts of the texture to make a matching 'trim' texture for architraves, skirting-boards etc...

Well, I had to have a look through my source images. No knotty pine, unfortunately. Nuts! All my source images are in the range of 8-14 feet long and between 6 and 12 inches wide depending on species. For knotty woods, that would be excellent to avoid repetition. IMHO, wood grain textures should not be seamless. Wood isn't seamless is reality.

I have some naughty textures.
